Gadan - SCI( Europe) Posted on May 10, 2010
Name: Gadan Pre-treatment: Gadan received a bullet wound about 8 months ago, and as a result had sensory and movement difficulties. He was sent to the hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound. After Gadan's trauma recovery, he still lacked feeling in the abdominal region. He also received physical rehabilitation training in the local hospital, but there was little improvement. He had lost feeling below the thoracic T-10. He also suffered from bowel and bladder dysfunctions. Gadan has a friend who is in China studying Traditional Chinese Medicine. His friend informed him about Wu Stem Cells Medical Center and that we could treat his spinal cord injury. Soon after Gadan was told this, he came to our medical center for treatment, accompanied by his brother. Gadan is a healthy young man and was understandably upset when faced with the possibility of a lifetime of loss of sensation resulting from the damage to his spinal cord. He told the doctors that he wasn't afraid when he was shot, but was now very concerned that his legs had lost all sensation. He was noticeably frustrated and depressed. Nervous System Examination: Above the 10th thoracic vertebra, Gadan's sensation was normal; below the 10th thoracic vertebra, there was no sensation. Above the 10th thoracic vertebra, the vibration sensation was normal. Below the 10th thoracic vertebra, the vibration sensation had disappeared. The bilateral Hoffmann's sign and Rossilimo's sign were negative. The palmomental reflex was negative. The bilateral Babinski's sign was neutral. The coordinated movement examination of both upper limbs was normal, while both lower limbs couldn't cooperate with the coordinated movement examination. Treatment: We initially gave Gadan a complete examination. Then we proceeded with the self stem cells activation treatment to repair the damaged neurons. He received treatment to improve the blood circulation to increase the blood supply to the damaged neurons. We also gave him daily physical rehabilitation training. We adjusted the treatment according to Gadan's condition and the examination results. Post-treatment: Gadan's balance ability while in the sitting position has improved; he can sit for more than ten minutes at a time without assistance. The adduction and abduction muscle strength can reach level 1. Gadan can control the adduction and abduction movements of both legs while in a certain position. While staying at our hospital Gadan learned some Chinese words such as Ni Hao, Xie Xie, and Bukeqi. He also worked hard to lose weight to help improve the treatment results. Gadan will continue his rehabilitation training after he returns to his home country. The entire staff wishes Gadan good luck and hopes he continues making good progress.
