Alderete Theo-Retinopathy of Prematurity-(Argentina)

Before treatment:
The child was born prematurely at 35 weeks of gestation. 8 months later the parents found that he had abnormal eyes. They took him to the local hospital and he had examinations which found that the right eye retinal was completely detached and the left eye retinal was partially detached. He was diagnosed as " Retinopathy of Prematurity " but did not receive any treatment. At present his eyes only have a sense of light at close range.
His spirit is good but his sleep and diet is not so good. His urination and defecation functions are normal. 

Admission PE:
Bp: 108/81mmHg, Hr:107/min, body temperature: 36.0 degrees. Height 109cm, weight 17Kg. The patient has good nutrition status and normal physical development. There is no injury or bleeding spots of his skin and mucosa, he has a symmetrical chest, clear respiratory sounds in both lungs and no dry or moist rales. He has a strong heart beat with irregular cardiac rhythm, no obvious murmur in the valves, a soft and flat abdomen with no masses or tenderness and a normal liver and spleen.

Nervous System Examination: 
 He is alert, has clear speech, good memory, orientation, intelligence and calculation. The is a bilaterally sunken eyeball, bilaterally cloudy and dark-grey lenses. The pupil could be seen in the right eye but not in the left eye and the pupil was not seen to have a reaction to light. There was no certain light source location for both eyes. Fundus examination: Right eye: lateral sides could be seen, the optic papilla was pale, the macula was not seen, the optic disk was white-yellow, blood vessels were not clear.  Left eye: there was cataract, the optic disk was pale-yellow, others were not clear. He has a symmetrical forehead wrinkle and nasolabial fold, normal swallowing, normal hearing, normal neck, normal muscle power and the muscle tone of the 4 limbs. There is normal tendon reflex of the 4 limbs, normal abdominal reflex and negative sucking reflex. Bilateral palm-jaw reflex, Hoffmann sign, Rossolimo sign and Babinski sign were all negative. Deep and shallow sensation was normal. The meningeal irritation sign was negative.

Treatment:
After the admission he received 3 nerve regeneration treatments (neural stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells) to repair his damaged retina, develop his retina, nourish the retina and optic nerves, improve the body environment, regulate his immune system and improve blood circulation. This was combined with rehabilitation training.   

Post-treatment:
After 14 days treatment he could locate light sources more accurately, he could see light at a longer distance improving from 10cm to 40cm and he can now see the outlines of big objects.
